Literary agent Percy Alevik is attending a shocking lecture on the future of the publishing industry. Shortly thereafter, his assistant Amelia finds him dead in his agency. Everything points to suicide, but it doesn’t take long before Percy begins to contact her through letters he left behind. There, he instructs her to meet some persons in order to find what he calls “my story”.
Meanwhile, Barbro, Emil and Sture, three people unknown to each other, receive an invitation signed “Your Literary Agent”. For different reasons, they accept travelling to a far away located mansion, where they meet their mysterious host, who sends them out into the world with a mission for each of them to return with a manuscript. None of them dares to refuse because none wants to be exposed – by the agent who seems to know everything about them, including what they once did.
Percy’s Story is a magnificent novel, a tribute to storytelling and to the individual story of every human being. It deals with secrets and guilt, reconciliation and love, mysteries and the interaction between people. And why books are vital to life. Literally.
